The Hospice Patients Alliance has helped thousands of patients and families since its founding in 1998. The Hospice Patients Alliance offers free assistance to patients and families from all over the USA. We work with hundreds of other advocacy organizations to protect and empower the patients and their families who are facing an end of life situation as well as staff who work in the end-of-life care setting. Thousands of patients and families visit our website each week.

Hospice Patients Alliance is a public charity recognized by the United States Internal Revenue Service. The IRS assigned permanent status as a 501(c)(3) organization after an initial advance ruling period from 1998 through 2002. See IRS official determination letter. Your donations to Hospice Patients Alliance are deductible to the full extent permitted by U.S. IRS tax regulations.

There are many ways of helping to improve hospice care throughout the U.S. By supporting the work done by Hospice Patients Alliance you can help improve hospice services. Donating helps patients and families throughout the U.S. receive better hospice care. Another way to help is to tell others about our website and book by speaking with them about us, or e-mailing your friends and family members and telling them about our work and website. If you have a website, place a link to our site to let others know about us. This also increases the ability of others to find us through search engines. Because we accept donations only from the public ... individuals like you, we can maintain an independent voice in hospice, providing the consumer advocacy information nationwide that you need to protect your loved one. We do not accept any money from hospices, hospice organizations, hospice lobbying groups and/or hospice related foundations (which might try to influence us).

Importance of Maintaining our Independent Voice

The importance of maintaining our independence is easily understood when you learn that we regularly get phonecalls and emails from various hospice representatives or organizations trying to get us to stop what we're doing or "tone down" the information we provide...these self-appointed "would-be" editors tell us that "it's not so bad." We tell them that if they listened to even one percent of the calls we get, they'd think very differently! Those of us who have had serious problems getting good hospice care know how devastating it can be!

For these reasons, our Board of Directors is made up of individuals who cannot currently be hospice employees, agents or representatives of any hospice or hospice lobbying group. All have had experience with hospice, either as hospice staff, or as members of the public who had family members in hospice care. We are grateful for any donations you choose to make! Small or large, your donation will help us continue to provide our services to others like you who need help getting the information or care that their loved one deserves!
